Walking Safaris

3 days / 4 nights
4-8 participants

For those of you who would rather read the book than watch the movie. . .
Our walking safaris take place on private concession land that is part of the Northern Tuli Game Reserve in Eastern Botswana. The safaris include three full days of walking and can be fully catered. Two experienced rangers accompany you on the trail.

Choose to stay in rustic or luxury camps.

Serolo Safari Camp (Luxury)

The luxury Serolo Safari Camp is located along the shady floodplain of the Limpopo River under the massive Mashatu and Apple-leaf trees.

Game (elephants, leopard, bushbucks, bush pigs, warthogs and African wild cats) can be seen drinking at the waterhole just below the camp and birders will be pleasantly rewarded with sightings of many spectacular species. Meyer’s Parrots, Meve’s Starlings, Southern Black Tits, African Mourning Doves and African Scops-Owl are around all year. Summer brings visitors like Broadbilled Rollers, Eurasian Golden Orioles, Woodland Kingfishers and Levalliant’s Cuckoos. You might also spot raptors like Little Sparrowhawks and Gabar Goshawks.

This un-fenced camp offers accommodation in five, fully serviced safari-style tents. All of the tents have:

  • Two single beds, fans and electric and hurricane lamps.
  • En suite showers and flush toilets. Water heated by a wood fire in a “donkey boiler" system.
  • Bedding and towels are provided.

The fully-equipped kitchen has a gas stove, electric kettle, toaster, fridge, microwave and deep-freeze. All crockery, cutlery and cooking utensils are provided.

The camp is serviced daily by the full-time camp attendant.

Full catering is available. Please inquire when booking.

Trails Camp (Rustic)

The Trails Camp is a rustic camp comprised of dome tents and a bush kitchen. All cooking is done over an open fire and for one night on this safari we will be "roughing it." That means we sleep on the ground wherever we find ourselves that evening. We sleep around a fire, with participants taking shifts in mounting a watch for the evening, ensuring that we remain safe. We usually carry sleeping bags, sleeping mats, food, water and all other essentials when we rough it, but there is an option to have those items delivered.

Please Note: The rough camps are usually inaccessible to vehicles.
